12 days of Christmas collectors spoons
If you know this song, you won't need any explanations...!
If you don't, here they are:
"The Twelve Days of Christmas" is an English Christmas carol that enumerates in the manner of a cumulative song a series of increasingly numerous gifts given on each of the twelve days of Christmas (the twelve days that make up the Christmas season, starting with Christmas Day). The song was published in England in 1780 without music as a chant or rhyme. "(source: Wikipedia)
On the 12th day, all the gifts have accumulated and consist of (last verse of the song, which you can listen to here and see the lyrics here):
On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me
Twelve drummers drumming
Eleven pipers piping
Ten lords a-leaping
Nine ladies dancing
Eight maids a-milking
Seven swans a-swimming
Six geese a-laying
Five golden rings
Four calling birds
Three french hens
Two turtle doves, and
A partridge in a pear tree
Now GUESS WHAT, i have found spoons representing the 12 gifts of the 12 days of Christmas! 1) a partridge 2) a turtle dove 3) a french hen 4) a calling bird 5) five golden rings 6) a laying goose 7) a swimming swan 8) a milking maid 9) a dancing lady 10) a leaping lord 11) a piping piper 11) a drumming drummer (it is old english :)
That's an incredible and rare find, and on top of it, i have the original receipts for each spoon, which were purchased one per month between 1985-1986 from a lady in Yukon in Canada. The figures are made of pewter and the handles are silverplate.
As this set is very precious, I decided not to stamp them with words, so it is sold as is. It is special enough this way :) I do not have the spoon rack on the picture unfortunately. The price is for the whole set.
